This client sought our help with improving a project planning and cost to complete challenge across their portfolio of projects

What was the challenge...

This client asked us to help with monthly project management forecasting and planning; each month the project managers were required to submit a formal cost to complete per Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) which although vital for the business required a significant amount of effort for all the PMs.

What did we do...

We discussed the requirements at length with the client and decided the best course of action was to develop a Microsoft Project "Plugin" Extension using C#. This would be installed as part of the deployment of MSProject and provide all the Project Managers with the ability to Sync their project with the business ERP system. Initially only the Cost to complete was utilised but with our expertise in Project Management and Finance we quickly realised we could bring this client significantly more value by extending the functionality. The plugin now synchronises resources, actual costs, actual work, work orders, purchase orders, due dates and is central to the project management workflow.
